Privacy Policy

The anonymity promise — read this first

You are anonymous to other users. Other people cannot see your name, email, phone number, or real identity from your Tattles or activity. That is the core promise, and we design for it. However, to run a safe, lawful service the operator still processes some data — see the sections below.

What we collect

Location (precise and/or coarse) — used to anchor Tattles to real places and to show you nearby content. Tattle content — your posts and any attached media. Anonymous account / device ID — a server-assigned identifier used to sync your content, enforce our rules, and prevent abuse; never shown to other users. Usage data — Tattle views, QR scans, post and discover events. We do NOT collect your name, email address, phone number, or contacts.

Sign in with Apple (optional)

If you choose to link an Apple ID for account recovery, Apple provides a cryptographic token that we use only to verify and bind your account. We request no name or email from Apple. The token is forwarded to our server for verification and then discarded — only our server-issued token is stored on your device.

How we use your data

To operate the Service (store and deliver Tattles, anchor content to places), to moderate content and enforce our rules, to respond to abuse reports, and to comply with law.

Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers. We may share data with service providers who help us operate the App (hosting, moderation tooling) under data-processing agreements. We may retain and disclose data to law enforcement when legally required or to protect people from serious harm. Anonymous to other users does not mean anonymous to a court.

Retention

We retain your content and account data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account in-app (Settings → Delete Account); this triggers a cascade that removes your Tattles server-side.

Minors

TattleTown is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from users under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us at hello@tattletown.com.
